Sean MacDonald's horror injury run has continued, after the Tasmania JackJumpers player suffered a torn ACL during a Boomers warm-up game against the University of Colorado, ahead of the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup.
After missing three months with an ankle issue in 2024, and then missing the remainder of the previous NBL season after a January foot injury, this most recent ACL tear is yet another set back for the 25-year-old.
But with MacDonald now out of the Boomers squad, he will be replaced by one of his Tasmania teammates, new signing Josh Bannan.

Josh Bannan will replace Sean MacDonald in the Boomers squad that will contend for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, set to bolster the team's front court.
Bannan was initially one of the cuts in the extended squad, but MacDonald's injury now opens the door for the 24-year-old.
"Josh will step in and be ready to go," said Boomers' High Performance EGM Jason Smith.
"He’s a competitor and shown an incredible level of character and commitment to the Boomers team and program."
The Boomers' 2025 FIBA Cup campaign will tip off Wednesday, August 6, when Australia square off against South Korea.
