Cardinals' Lance Lynn leaves start with hip injury image

Lance Lynn left Sunday's spring training game during the second inning with a left hip flexor strain, the Cardinals announced.

Lynn faced three batters in the second but did not record an out; nine of his 15 pitches in the inning were balls. The eventual diagnosis was something of a surprise, though, since Lynn has dealt with blister problems in the past and his hand had appeared to be bothering him.

Lynn, 27, posted a career-best 2.74 ERA last season and has topped 200 innings in each of the last two seasons. He avoided arbitration earlier this year by agreeing to a three-year, $22 million contract.
