St Kilda are believed to be confident of getting Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera to sign a new two-year contract at the club.
The superstar half-back is out of contract at the end of the season and is being hunted by hometown clubs Port Adelaide and Adelaide.
However, a recent meeting between Saints list boss Stephen Silvagni and Wanganeen Milera's agent Ben Williams has left St Kilda feeling positive about retaining their gun player.
"[St Kilda] are a lot more optimistic now [after the Silvagni-Williams meeting]," reported Caroline Wilson on Monday night's The Agenda Setters.

"The manager Ben Williams has asked St Kilda to put forward a two-year deal, a contract in line with the length of [Saints coach] Ross Lyon - and we don't know if Ross Lyon is going to continue coaching or whether he will hand the reins over.
"There seems to be a feeling in Adelaide that St Kilda are pretty confident they've got their man."
Ideally the Saints would have wanted Wanganeen-Milera to sign a long-term deal, but instead the player is set to commit to a shorter contract which gives him plenty of options when it expires at the end of 2027.
Wanganeen-Milera can wait-and-see if St Kilda has made progress toward being a premiership contender, while also leveraging the addition of new franchise Tasmania in his next contract negotiations.
The 22-year-old is a strong contender for All-Australian honours in 2025, averaging 29 disposals and ranked no.1 in the AFL for total metres gained.
He will be in action once again as the Saints host Hawthorn at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.
