Luke Hodge has come to the defence of his former coach Alastair Clarkson, despite Geelong’s demolition of North Melbourne by 101 points on Saturday night.
It comes after mounting pressure on Clarkson, with a horror run for North Melbourne seeing the Roos lose each of their last five games by an average of 60.4 points.
Clarkson is currently nearing the end of his third year in charge, with questions being raised over the security of his job.
But Hodge has urged the Roos to stick it out.

“I think what that club does need, the club needs stability,” Hodge told the Agenda Setters.
“You’ve gone through a number of years where they’ve had change of coaches, they’ve changed their list a lot, they’ve got in some senior guys.
“What they dished up on the weekend was pathetic, there’s no doubt about it. I think everyone would agree.
“They’re not going to get rid of him, cause they need stability. They need the same voice there for the next two years.”
Hodge enjoyed his fair share of success during his playing days under Clarkson, winning four premierships, including a three-peat from 2013-2015 in which Hodge captained the Hawks.

Clarkson departed Hawthorn at the end of 2021, before signing a five-year deal at the end of the following season to coach the Roos, that was designed to keep him at Arden Street until at least the end of 2027.
North were tipped to rise in 2025, with a young, developing core receiving an influx of veteran leadership over the off-season.
But the results have yet to eventuate, with North currently only sitting on four wins, all against fellow bottom-eight teams on the ladder.
The Kangaroos themselves currently sit 17th, with a percentage of 72.8.
