Australian Football League leaders Collingwood are set to take on the Hawthorn Hawks in Round 12 of the 2025 AFL home-and-away season as the Magpies look to extend their lead atop the ladder.
Collingwood's 104-52 loss against the GWS Giants gave the impression that they would have a difficult season. The Opening Round encounter, however, did not portend the outcome of their season so far. Six consecutive victories put the Magpies at the top of the standings.
In Round 8, the Geelong Cats gave Collingwood their second defeat of the year. The Magpies then won three more games going into Round 12, putting them two points ahead of the Brisbane Lions on the ladder.
Additionally, the Hawks started their 2025 home-and-away campaign with four consecutive victories, putting them at the top of the AFL standings. They appeared to falter after losing back-to-back games in the middle of April, but they recovered well and went on a winning streak of three games.
However, their last two games have seen them suffer a drop in form as they have suffered losses against the Gold Coast SUNS and the Brisbane Lions.
