The Brisbane Lions are set to take on the Hawthorn Hawks in Round 1 of the Australian Football League Women's (AFLW) season on Sunday afternoon at Brighton Homes Arena.

The Lions had a wonderful 2024 campaign as they finished third on the AFLW ladder at the end of the home-and-away season. They ended up reaching the Grand Final after beating the Hawks and the Adelaide Crows; however, they ended up losing to the Kangaroos.

The Hawks had a slightly better season than the Lions in the home-and-away season; however, they had a somewhat disastrous run in the Finals series, as they lost their Qualifying Final and also their semi-final against Port Adelaide.

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times, and the latest lineup news.
