The tug-of-war for Charlie Curnow’s signature has intensified, with both Sydney and Geelong now monitoring the dual Coleman Medallist’s situation closely.

The Carlton star, contracted until 2029, is said to be contemplating a move away from the relentless Melbourne football bubble.

According to AFL Media’s Callum Twomey, the Swans and Cats have joined the list of clubs interested in the 28-year-old forward, who has reportedly expressed a desire to play for Gold Coast. Curnow’s preference for a more relaxed, coastal life has triggered fresh speculation, despite Carlton making it clear he’s not for sale.

“Charlie Curnow would like to play for the Gold Coast Suns,” Nine’s Tom Morris reported. “This is based around lifestyle, living in Melbourne and the football bubble — getting out of the spotlight here in Melbourne.”

Carlton not budging, but interest grows

Carlton officials, led by Graham Wright, have firmly ruled out a trade, telling Curnow multiple times he won’t be moved this off-season. But that hasn’t stopped rival clubs from circling, particularly with tensions reportedly brewing at Ikon Park.

Fox Footy’s Jon Ralph noted that while Curnow isn’t “kicking the door down” for a trade, “There are various reasons that he’s grumpy.” He also flagged how difficult a deal with Gold Coast would be, given their stacked forward line and current momentum.

With over 15 players still unsigned beyond this season and senior figures at Carlton meeting club management to gauge the direction of the rebuild, Curnow’s future could prove a defining storyline of the off-season.
