Hip-hop royalty could be headed to the ‘G, with the AFL reportedly closing in on a deal to lock in Snoop Dogg as the headline act for the 2025 Grand Final entertainment.
Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary has revealed that the 53-year-old rap legend remains the league’s “number one priority” and an announcement is expected within days. While AFL CEO Andrew Dillon refused to confirm the booking, he did hint that a major act was in the works.
“So many people care about it, and we're going to have a big act that we'll be announcing relatively soon,” Dillon said earlier this week.

From Super Bowl to the MCG
Snoop Dogg would become the third straight American star to feature on Grand Final day, following Katy Perry and KISS in recent years. Best known for global hits like Gin and Juice and Drop It Like It's Hot, he last performed Down Under in 2023 on his “I Wanna Thank Me” tour.
“There's been some conjecture around Snoop Dogg, will he or won’t he?” Cleary said on Seven News.
“I understand he’s still the AFL’s number one priority. They're hoping to finalise an agreement in the next couple of days, with an announcement in the next four or five days.”
Having already rocked the Super Bowl stage in 2022 alongside Dr. Dre, Eminem and Mary J. Blige, Snoop’s potential Grand Final set would mark another chapter in the AFL’s growing tradition of big-name, international half-time shows.
