Robert Walls death: AFL legend passes away aged 74 image

AFL great Robert Walls has died aged 74 after losing a gruelling battle with cancer.

The Carlton icon passed away on Thursday morning after deciding to cease chemotherapy treatment for a rare and aggressive blood cancer - undergoing voluntary assisted dying.

Walls was first diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia just prior to the 2023 AFL Grand Final.

His initial fight against the illness had seen his cancer go into remission, but a decision was made to not undergo further treatment after the disease returned.
