The Tasmanian Devils will seek out the management of Nick Daicos as they try and lure some big names down to the club before their hopeful launch in 2028.
Collingwood’s biggest star, Nick Daicos said earlier this year to The Age that he would ‘never rule anything out’ regarding a move to the new AFL side.
He also stated that Tasmania joining is a while away and he is happy at the Magpies, who are currently on top of the ladder.
The Devils’ head of list management Todd Patterson has stated that he is determined to speak to Daicos’ manager Robbie D’Orazio.

“Robbie D’Orazio, he is one I’ll be having discussions with this week to understand what was behind that comment, and if that’s something we should be considering and looking into further and providing more information,” Patterson said on SEN Tassie.
“That will be one of many many conversations and there’s been lots of options and possibilities that have come out of our manager meetings for the last two or three weeks.
While it is unlikely Daicos would leave the club his father Peter played for, it has happened before with AFL great Gary Ablett Jr leaving Geelong for the Gold Coast before returning to the Cats at the end of his career.
Patterson also spoke about the possibility of state league opportunities with a potential move to the VFL before they join the AFL in 2028.
“We’re working through with the AFL what that can look like. We’re in a tricky spot where because there was still that provisional license and things have been held up a little bit,” Patterson said.
“So, we’re very much in discussion with them, and we hope to have a resolution in the next four to six weeks."
