Jack Silvagni and Tom De Koning trade speculation doused by Carlton image

Despite growing rumours of a player exodus at Carlton, senior coach Michael Voss has moved quickly to quell speculation surrounding out-of-contract duo Jack Silvagni and Tom De Koning.

Silvagni, an unrestricted free agent and son of club legend Stephen, has been linked with multiple suitors, including archrivals Collingwood, Essendon and the Western Bulldogs, after a standout season in defence.

The 27-year-old has reportedly met with Craig McRae and Brad Scott in recent weeks, fuelling talk of a high-profile exit.

‘I’m very confident he’ll be at Carlton’

But Voss isn’t buying into the noise.

"I'm very confident [Silvagni will be at Carlton next year]," he said on Friday. "He's in a position where he gets to explore what the next phase looks like for him. It's what free agency has done.”

The coach downplayed the timing of the meetings and emphasised the team’s focus remains on finishing the season with pride.

"For us, it's about finishing off as a team,” Voss said. “Some of those other things that are happening will play out in due course, but we're going to finish with spirit, our leaders will lead really strong, our young players will get more exposure, and that's what we're locked into."

Tom De Koning is another name that’s caused unease among Blues fans, with a lucrative $1.7 million-per-season offer reportedly on the table from St Kilda. But Voss again urged calm, suggesting there was no rush.

"It's the same thing [with Tom De Koning]. It will work out when it needs to work out," he said. "What are we, 15 days from the finish line? I think we can wait."

Carlton face the Gold Coast Suns on Saturday night at Marvel Stadium as they attempt to salvage some pride from a disappointing 2025 campaign.
