West Coast Eagles coach Andrew McQualter has moved to ease fears over Harley Reid’s long-term future, saying he has seen nothing to suggest the highly prized midfielder will leave despite eye-watering contract offers from rival clubs.
Reid, who is contracted until the end of 2026, is understood to have been approached with deals as long as 11 years and worth up to $25 million. Yet McQualter insists the former No.1 draft pick’s actions speak louder than any speculation.
“I’m really confident Harley will be here. I’ve spoken about this all along. Every day Harley turns up to work, he’s incredibly invested in this team and this club,” McQualter said on Thursday.

‘He cares about the group, cares about the club’
McQualter doubled down on his faith in the 19-year-old’s commitment, highlighting Reid’s work ethic and attitude as proof of his loyalty.
“All I can judge on is behaviour … the young man is really invested,” he said. “He’s working hard to make us become better, to get himself better. He cares about the group, cares about the club. So they’re signs that point to me that he’s really invested.”
While acknowledging the huge sums being discussed in modern AFL deals, McQualter shrugged off the shock factor, noting that player salaries have always trended upwards.
The Eagles, mired in a one-win 2025 season, finish their campaign against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday before hosting Sydney in the final round.
