GWS have locked away another key piece of their midfield puzzle, with Xavier O’Halloran inking a fresh three-year extension that ties him to the club until the end of the 2028 AFL season.
The 25-year-old has become a mainstay in Adam Kingsley’s line-up this year, thriving in an expanded midfield role as the Giants surge towards a potential top-four finish.
His new deal comes just days after GWS dismantled the Swans by 44 points for their sixth straight win, another sign of a team clicking into gear at the right time.

O’Halloran, drafted at pick 22 in 2018, has steadily risen through the ranks and reached his 50-game milestone earlier this year. He’s now enjoying the most productive spell of his career, averaging 20 disposals and nearly a goal a game across the last month, including a standout performance against West Coast, where he notched 27 touches and two goals.
'Exactly what we value at this football club'
Giants Executive GM of Football Jason McCartney said the club was thrilled to reward O’Halloran’s development and impact.

“Xavier’s journey has been one of perseverance, development and commitment, and it’s great to have him remain a GIANT for another three years,” McCartney said.
“He’s a player who gives everything every time he pulls on the jumper—whether it’s in the midfield or up forward, his work ethic and intensity are exactly what we value at this football club.”
O’Halloran joins a string of young Giants who have recently recommitted, including Aaron Cadman, Darcy Jones and Finn Callaghan, as the club continues to solidify its core for the seasons ahead.
