Gold Coast midfielder Alex Davies is believed to be exploring a move away from the Suns, with reports suggesting the 23-year-old is keen to revive his AFL career elsewhere.
Despite signing a contract extension last year that ties him to the Suns until the end of 2026, Davies has not featured at senior level in 2024 under Damien Hardwick.
With the Suns’ first-choice midfield proving difficult to break into, the former academy product is now said to be on the lookout for greater opportunity.

No AFL action in 2024 as VFL numbers build case
Davies has been a consistent performer in the VFL this season, averaging 23.2 disposals, 6.5 clearances and 5.4 tackles per game. But without an opening in Gold Coast’s senior line-up, it appears he’s ready to explore options during the upcoming trade period.
“He signed on at the Suns last year until the end of 2026, but he is looking for opportunities elsewhere,” AFL Media’s Cal Twomey said.“I think he’ll be keen for a move this trade period. He hasn’t broken into the Suns midfield this year at all, so he is a name to watch again.”
“I think he’ll be open to changing clubs.”
Davies had drawn strong interest from rival clubs during last year’s trade window before recommitting to the Suns. That interest is likely to be reignited as clubs seek inside midfield depth.
