Melbourne chief executive Gary Pert has reportedly resigned from his role, with the announcement to be made public imminently.

Pert conveyed his decision to Demons staff on Thursday morning, a report from the Herald Sun states.

The head honcho's impending departure comes after an internal review into tumultuous 2024 for Melbourne, with Christian Petracca wanting to leave the club at one stage and the team finishing 14th on the AFL ladder after being a top four contender.

AFL TRADE AND DRAFT NEWS:

While leaving his main position, Pert is expected to stay on with the club in a minor role to help facilitate their move to Caulfield Racecourse, with the team currently training at Casey Fields and Gosch's Paddock.

Pert was appointed Melbourne CEO in 2018 after a long stint in administration at Collingwood.

The crowning point of his Demons tenure was the 2021 AFL premiership won by the club - their first in 57 years.
