First Indigenous players named for All Stars match against Fremantle image

Seven Indigenous players have been selected for the All Stars team to take on Fremantle next year.

The concept will return for the first time since the Indigenous All Stars played West Coast in 2015.

Optus Stadium will host the match that will occur during the 2025 pre-season.

The Sporting News reveals which players have been selected for the All Stars in the first batch.

  • Callum Ah Chee (Brisbane) – Noongar, Palyku and Nyikina, Yawuru
  • Charlie Cameron (Brisbane) – Waanyi and Lardil
  • Bobby Hill (Collingwood) – Whadjuk, Ballardong, Noongar
  • Brad Hill (St Kilda) – Wilmen, Noongar
  • Kysaiah Pickett (Melbourne) – Yamatji, Noongar
  • Liam Ryan (West Coast) – Yamatji
  • Michael Walters (Fremantle) – Whadjuk, Wilmen and Ngarrindjeri

When is the Indigenous All Stars vs. Fremantle match?

The Indigenous All Stars will take on Fremantle in an exhibition match on Saturday February 15 at a time TBC.

The match will be played at Optus Stadium.

When does the 2025 AFL season start?

The 2025 AFL season will begin on Thursday, March 6 with a blockbuster between premiers Brisbane and Geelong at the Gabba.

This match will be the first of four in the 'Opening Round', which sees the AFL teams in the eastern seaboard states host the first games of the season.

Details of Round 1 are yet to be released but it's likely that the traditional 'season opener' between Carlton and Richmond will be on Thursday, March 13 at the MCG.
