Essendon players lose anti-doping appeal image

The 34 Essendon players who were suspended for a doping violation have lost their appeal at the Swiss Federal Tribunal

The decision means that the Court of Arbitration for Sport's punishment and guilty verdict will stand.

This could potentially result in 2012 Brownlow Medallist Jobe Watson being stripped of his medal.

Watson has been invited to speak in front of the AFL commission who will make the ruling.

Should Watson be stripped it is likely joint runners up, Hawthorn's Sam Mitchell and Richmond's Trent Cotchin, will be awarded the medal.
