Hawthorn champion Jordan Lewis is the latest AFL pundit to weigh-in on Carlton’s growing list concerns, naming three key players he thinks the Blues should look at trading this coming offseason.
Likening Carlton’s situation to Hawthorn in 2013, Lewis didn’t hold back on Tuesday’s episode of On The Couch, naming Patrick Cripps, Charlie Curnow, and Harry McKay as potential names the club could look at moving ahead of a potential reset.
“You’ve got to take the emotion out of it. I’m talking Cripps, Curnow, McKay,” Lewis said on air.
“The best player in the league was traded out of Hawthorn. Lance Franklin left Hawthorn to go to Sydney, and everything was ok. I just don’t think you want to have these conversations in three years’ time, when the player that you could’ve traded out has lost their currency.”

While Lewis virtually said every name at Carlton should be the subject of trade, the only omission was 19-year-old midfielder Jagga Smith, who was selected with the third overall pick in last year’s draft.
“I honestly think everyone should be up for discussion, other than probably Jagga Smith, who we haven’t seen (due to injury),” Lewis went on to say.
Lewis’ comments come only a day after fellow Fox Footy commentator Leigh Montagna followed a similar script, naming five players the Blues should trade while simultaneously backing embattled coach, Michael Voss.
Sitting 11th and 12 points adrift from the eight, the Blues are reportedly backing Voss for the remainder of the year, despite a marquee Friday night game looming large against rivals Collingwood.
Unlike Hawthorn in 2013, the Blues aren’t coming off the back of a Premeirship win, although it’s still interesting to find Cripps, a two-time Brownlow Medalist, mentioned as a potential trade candidate.
“You’re hearing stuff externally, (and) now you’re looking at their list and the type of players they’ve got on that list.
“They were the oldest Carlton side that they fielded on the weekend since 1944, so it ain’t a young list,” Lewis added on Tuesday.
