Carlton have confirmed the departure of football boss Brad Lloyd, marking the first major change to their football department since the club publicly committed to senior coach Michael Voss for 2026.
The Blues announced on Tuesday that Lloyd, who has overseen football operations since 2018, will leave at the end of the season.

His exit comes during a disappointing 7-14 campaign and as new chief executive Graham Wright begins reshaping the club’s structure. Carlton will now start the search for a new general manager of football.
Seven-year tenure ends amid department review
Lloyd, who previously served as Fremantle’s list manager, steered the Blues through three senior coaching changes and oversaw a preliminary final run in 2023. Reflecting on his time at Ikon Park, he said: “It has been a privilege to see the growth of our football program over the last seven years… it has been off the back of an incredible amount of hard work from so many good Carlton people.”

Wright praised Lloyd’s “tireless effort and commitment”, adding: “Brad’s commitment to see out the final two weeks of the season speaks to his dedication and care for those around him.”
The new chief executive said the review of the football department had been central to his first months in charge. “Successful clubs don’t rely on individuals; they are a product of collective excellence… that is what we are striving to build,” Wright said.
With further assistant coaching changes possible, Lloyd’s departure could be the first of several moves aimed at reigniting Carlton’s fortunes in 2026.
