Bobby Hill is the 2023 Norm Smith Medallist, as the best-performing player in the AFL Grand Final.

The Collingwood small forward kicked a career-high four goals from 18 disposals, as Brisbane couldn't come up with an answer for his electric play.

Hill arrived at the Magpies in the 2022 trade period, after a difficult year in which he played just 11 games for GWS. Now, he has cemented himself in Collingwood folklore.

The 23-year-old's brilliant display was capped off with a high-flying mark over Brisbane's Brandon Starcevich, resulting in his fourth goal before half time.

Norm Smith Medal voting system

The voting for this prestigious award usually comprises five football experts (past players, media personalities, journalists) who give a 3-2-1 to the players they deem best afield.

Of those five, one is designated as panel chair, whose votes will decide the winner if there's a tie after two rounds of countbacks.

In 2023, Luke Darcy (chair) leads a panel of five, including Eddie Betts, Jude Bolton, Luke Shuey and Sarah Olle.

What happens if there's a tie?

Who is presenting the Norm Smith Medal in 2023?

Chris Judd, who won the Norm Smith Medal in a losing side for West Coast back in 2006, will present the 2023 winner with the medal.
