The 128th season of the AFL has reached the final stages of the competition in 2024. 18 teams may have started the season, but after the top eight sides faced off in Week 1 of the Finals series, only six remain following the eliminations of the Western Bulldogs and Carlton.

This week, it's the Semi finals, as the respective winners and losers of Week 1 do battle once again, with the Sydney Swans and Geelong Cats having already sealed their passages to next week's Preliminary Finals.

The 2024 Finals Series takes across four weeks, with two teams being eliminated at the end of each week. The last two teams standing will contest the AFL Grand Final on September 28 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The Sporting News is on hand to bring you all the latest TV schedule information, live stream and start times for this week's Semi Final fixtures.

Despite finishing four points above them in the regular-season table, Port Adelaide were upset 20.18 (138) to just 7.12 (54) in their qualifying final against Geelong, leaving them at risk of elimination against Hawthorn in the first Semi Final at Adelaide Oval.

The Hawks, meanwhile, were winners themselves in a closely-fought elimination final against the Western Bulldogs, defeating their Melbourne neighbours 14.15 (99) to 9.8 (62) away from home.

The second Semi Final sees Greater Western Sydney host the Brisbane Lions at Engie Stadium, after the Giants were edged by their neighbours in an all-Sydney qualifying final which finished just 13.10 (88) to 12.10 (82) in the victorious Swans' favour.

They'll face a Brisbane Lions side who also came away winners from another close encounter, albeit not quite on the scale of that Sydney derby. They hosted Carlton, and will now head south to face GWS following a 14.15 (99) to 11.5 (71) win at the Gabba.
