Rodney Eade opened up about how he felt about Jaeger O’Meara seeking a trade to Hawthorn, but as diplomatic as ‘Rocket’ is we reckon it wasn’t that hard to read between the lines.

What he said: "No, I wasn't (upset at the news) because I haven't coached him - he hasn't played a game."
What we heard: “I’m not actually sure who we’re talking about here. Is this the one with the cocaine?”
What he said: "He phoned me about it so I thought that was nice of him, very professional of him, (but) I didn't agree with his decision."
What we heard: “I told him he’s an overrated, jumped up, soft-cock Taylor Lautner lookalike and that no-one up here likes him anyway. My grandkids told me to use that Taylor Lautner line, I don’t even know any of her songs.”
What he said: "I spoke to him about that but there is no sense being angry about it – it is just the way footy is, we’re going to see more of it in this day and age."
What we heard: “Kids these days have got no sense of loyalty. We never would have behaved like that when I was at Hawthorn or Brisbane or Sydney or the Bulldogs.”
What he said: "Adelaide lost Dangerfield and were a good chance to be top four this year – teams move on,"
What we heard: “I reckon we’ll still be around 15th without O’Meara, maybe even go up to 14th or 13th."
What he said: "Leigh Matthews, one of the greatest players of all time, left Hawthorn and next year we won a premiership.
What we heard: “If we can just pick up some players the equivalent of Brereton, Ayres, Tuck, Dunstall, Langford, Wallace, Dipper, Buckenara, Kennedy and Platten then it’ll be a case of ‘Jaeger who?’.”
What he said: "Every club is greater than the individual – teams move on and they survive."
What we heard: “We’re f*****."
What he said: "We will wait for Hawthorn to come back to us, but having said that, we would want to be reasonably compensated.
What we heard: “They’re going to try and get away with giving us nothing and, if I’ve learned anything since being here, we’ll eventually bend over and take it.”
What he said: "If we can come out in front in the deal then that's fine, you move on.
What we heard: “Our only chance of coming out in front is if O’Meara’s knee’s so bad he never plays again, and with the work the 85-year-old Gold Coast surgeon did between golf rounds I reckon there’s a fair chance he won’t.”
