Melbourne captain Max Gawn has revealed he believes the Demons will appeal Steven May's AFL Tribunal suspension.
May was banned for three matches after being found guilty of a rough conduct charge that resulted in a concussion to Carlton's Francis Evans.
The decision to suspend May has been widely critcised by ex-AFL stars Nick Riewoldt and Ben Dixon, who labelled the call 'rubbish' and unbelievable'.
Gawn's take on May's ban was careful but he did indicate Melbourne would likely exercise another avenue to get the player free of suspension.

“I daresay they would (appeal) because it’s such an iconic case," Gawn said on Triple M's Mick in the Morning.
"I daresay there’s some legal stuff that I don’t understand, which means they might not appeal.
"It’s such an interesting one. It’s such a hard game to adjudicate. Where does this leave marking contests?
Steven May has been sent directly to the tribunal for this incident involving Francis Evans.

"I am worried about AFL players down the track. There are teammates of mine and friends of mine that are struggling, so something certainly needs to be done… but we have to make sure the game is at its best as well."
Even though May has been suspended for three matches, he was already going to miss Sunday's game against St Kilda because of being in concussion protocols.
