Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir has explained there were no ulterior motives after the Dockers' changerooms had photos of the umpires in them.
The Dockers won by 41 points against a depleted Essendon side on Thursday night at Optus Stadium.
Fremantle had come under scrutiny this week after vision from last week's game showed the field umpires' names beneath their photo - in what was described as ‘mugshots’ by Richmond great Jack Riewoldt.
Longmuir explained it wasn’t a tactic, but he just wanted his players and staff to know who was umpiring their game.

“Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. It’s astonishing that it got picked up last week and it was made something of, but we’ve been doing it for four years, I reckon,” Longmuir said in his post-match conference.
“It’s not to get a benefit or rub them up the wrong way or right way. It's astonishing that it’s got made of this week.”
The Dockers were in great form on Thursday night, keeping the Bombers goalless in the third quarter as they kicked four goals of their own to set up the win.
Fremantle recruit Shai Bolton had another great game as he kicked two goals and had 15 disposals in the win, but drew criticism for pointing at the scoreboard in a scuffle with the opposition.
Longmuir stated he loved the edge Bolton brought to the team, even though he didn’t see the scoreboard pointing.
“I think largely Shai valued the right things tonight. I thought his pressure and contests were really strong from the get-go,” he said.
"He plays with a bit of flair and he likes to get in the opposition's face, so I didn't see the pointing at the scoreboard, but yeah, I don't mind the way he played."
Fremantle will play St Kilda at home next week, while Essendon will have a much-needed bye.
