Collingwood will be without two premiership stars for multiple weeks after they both sustained injuries during their game against St Kilda.

Magpies defender Billy Frampton will miss four to five weeks after sustaining a moderate calf strain on the weekend.

Frampton played out the game against the Saints, but scans revealed the extent of the injury after he felt ‘calf awareness’.

Pies forward Beau McCreery will miss three weeks after he sustained a mild hamstring strain on the weekend

It’s not all bad news for the Magpies with 19-year-old Charlie West debuting for the club this weekend when they take on the West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium.

West has been in great form in the VFL, having kicked 24 goals for the year so far, putting him eighth on the VFL goalkicking list.

He had an exceptional game on the weekend, kicking six goals, including the matchwinner, against Sandringham as the Pies VFL team won by three points.

Collingwood coach Craig McRae explained in his post-match press conference on Saturday night after the Saints game that it would be hard to keep West out of the team

“Now it’s going to be really hard to keep him out, I’m wrapt for him and a 19-year-old kid playing VFL and kicking a goal after the siren. We’ll celebrate that first thing Monday morning when we get the team together,” McRae said.

“He looks like he’s going to be hard to leave out next week.”

McRae announced West would debut on Tuesday at Pies training by showing his name up on the scoreboard in front of an excited playing group.

Collingwood sits comfortably in first position and will play the bottom-placed Eagles on Saturday night.
