The Brisbane Lions hold a dominant record against their interstate rivals, so last weekend's record 66-point belting against the Suns came as a shock to many.
From 29 matches against the young Gold Coast outfit, Brisbane holds a commanding 21-8 win-loss advantage.
The premiers carried a four-match winning streak into that round 20 clash, including a 41-point trouncing of the Cats in Geelong, and all signs pointed to their title defence being right on track.
So a one-sided 20.10 (130) to 9.10 (64) defeat, their biggest ever loss to the Suns and second-highest points conceded, came as a rude shock to the Lions.

Damien Hardwick's Suns are enjoying their best season since their inception in 2011 and one would have expected Brisbane to show up for the latest QClash.
Instead, co-captain Lachie Neale was left questioning his side's mindset heading into the game.
"We didn’t show up with the right attitude and intensity and against a good side like Gold Coast, you’re going to get found out pretty quick," he said.
"Certainly, (the review) was hard to watch, moreso the embarrassing clips that are not usual for us as a midfield group.
"You reflect on it after the game before the review and think 'far out, that was pretty poor'."
The Lions don't have a lot of time to dwell on that performance, taking on ladder-leading Collingwood next up at the MCG on Saturday night.
With their top-four hopes suddenly looking a little shaky, two-time Brownlow medallist Neale is backing his side to quickly return to form against the Pies.
"I think you learn more from your losses than your wins and when you win a few in a row sometimes you can get a little comfortable and happy with how you’re going and some things that might slip through the cracks get shown when you lose," he said.
"It can definitely be a positive if we take it the right way and learn from it. Hopefully it’s just an anomaly.
"That’s something we take pride in as a club … we bounce back pretty well usually."
