Adelaide star Izak Rankine will have to wait until at least Wednesday to find out what punishment he may receive for an alleged homophobic slur he directed at a Collingwood player over the weekend.
The investigation, which commenced on Monday, was expected to reach a finding by Tuesday evening.
But per SEN’s Sam Edmund, the investigation is now set to go into a gruelling third day, with an outcome still not decided on.
“The Izak Rankine investigation is going into yet another day,” Edmund posted on his X account on Tuesday.

Should Rankine be found guilty, he can expect at least a four-week suspension, judging by the AFL’s precedent.
Earlier this year, West Coast’s Jack Graham received a four-match ban for a homophobic slur, which is said to have been knocked down from five due to Graham self-reporting.
Not long after, Sydney’s Riak Andrew was handed a five-match ban.
Should Rankine cop the same sanction as Andrew, then he will be officially ruled out for the remainder of Adelaide’s season, regardless of how they fare in finals.
The Crows have just one game remaining in the home-and-away season, plus the potential for four more matches in September, should they make their way to the Grand Final by way of their double chance.
It was reported in The Age on Monday that Rankine had apologised on Sunday to the player he was alleged to have directed the slur towards.
